Volleyball Game Preview: Asheville Christian Academy Lions vs. Brevard Blue Devils

Asheville Christian Academy has won seven straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Brevard has won seven straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Lions will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Asheville Christian Academy narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Caldwell Academy 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted against the Eagles since August 12, 2017.

Asheville Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Caroline Simpson, who had 20 assists and three aces. Simpson is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 14 every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Brevard got the win against Cherokee on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-21, 25-18.

Asheville Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Brevard, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.

Asheville Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Brevard when the teams last played back in September of 2024, winning 3-1. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
