Football Game Preview: Marion Bulldogs vs. Ingram Moore Warriors

After each having a week off, the Marion Bulldogs and the Ingram Moore Warriors will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

If Marion beats Ingram Moore with 49 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Bulldogs claimed a resounding 49-21 victory over Randolph. The win was familiar territory for the Bulldogs, who have now won three games in a row.

Marion had a senior duo take command as Kade Pape threw for 266 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt and Tanner Otis gained 188 total yards and three touchdowns. Otis also rushed for 146 rushing yards, which is notable because the Bulldogs are undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. A healthy portion of Pape's aerial production (81 yards to be exact) went to Jack Wells, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Marion was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 211 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ingram Moore). They really took it to Florence for the full four quarters, racking up a 44-7 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-0.

Marion's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Ingram Moore, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Marion couldn't quite get it done against Ingram Moore in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 28-21. Thankfully for the Bulldogs, Kye Hightower (who rushed for 276 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 10.2 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
