Basketball Recap: Ayden - Grifton Comes Up Short

Ayden - Grifton lost against Southside back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Ayden - Grifton Chargers fell just short of the Southside Seahawks by a score of 45-43. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

I'Kiriyah Minor continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Southside, going 8 for 15 on her way to 20 points in addition to five boards and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Minor a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Michelle Brown, who posted four points in addition to nine blocks and six boards.

Ayden - Grifton now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Southside, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ayden - Grifton will head out to challenge West Craven at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Southside, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Martin County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Martin County will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Southside surely won't give up without a fight.
