Basketball Recap: Brevard Blue Devils vs. East Rutherford Cavaliers
After flying high against Chase last Tuesday, Brevard came back down to earth. The Brevard Blue Devils fell 39-29 to the East Rutherford Cavaliers on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 66-36 two weeks ago.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Rutherford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Faith Smith, who posted 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. Smith has been hot, having posted four or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Zilah Dewberry, who scored 15 points and three steals.
Brevard has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for East Rutherford, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-13 record this season.
