Basketball Game Preview: Baraboo Thunderbirds vs. Waunakee Warriors + Official Tickets

Baraboo is 1-9 against Waunakee since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds will head out on the road to challenge the Warriors at 7:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Baraboo humbled Portage with a 75-32 victory.

Sara Tews was a one-woman wrecking crew as she dropped a double-double with 26 points and 15 boards. Madilyn Gilbert was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Waunakee didn't have too much trouble with Wisconsin Lutheran on Friday as they won 66-48.

Waunakee's win came from a few key players Baraboo will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tessa Bryan, who shot 56% from the field en route to 24 points along with five boards and four steals. Her big performance that afternoon made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 24 points. Another player making a difference was Audrey Meudt, who almost dropped a triple-double with 16 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists.

Waunakee was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They racked up six more assists than Wisconsin Lutheran's also-impressive total of ten.

Baraboo came up short against Waunakee when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 45-37. Can the Thunderbirds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
