Basketball Recap: Cordova Comes Up Short

Cordova was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They were beaten by the Inderkum Tigers 82-24. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 940th, while the Tigers are ranked 13th).

Inderkum's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josiah Haliburton, who went 9 of 10 on his way to 25 points. The dominant performance gave Haliburton a new career-high in points. Zachary Torres was another key player, going 6 for 15 en route to 16 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Cordova's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Inderkum, their win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1.

Cordova didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-53 defeat against Kennedy on the 29th. Inderkum has also already played their next match, an 85-60 victory against Christian Brothers on the 27th.
