Basketball Recap: Lakeland Preparatory Lions vs. Fairley Bulldogs
Lakeland Preparatory suffered their biggest loss since November 26, 2024 on Saturday. They were beaten by the Fairley Bulldogs 80-46. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 70th).
Fairley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alarin Polk out in front who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten assists. Polk is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 19 games he's played. Lakeland Preparatory's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-12. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points over those games. As for Fairley, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 26-5.
Lakeland Preparatory does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fairley, they will face off against Douglass at 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday.
