Basketball Game Preview: Tri-Central Trojans vs. Rossville Hornets

The Tri-Central Trojans will square off against the Rossville Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tri-Central is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

Tri-Central is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Sheridan on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Tri-Central was dealt a 63-33 defeat at the hands of Sheridan. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Blackhawks are ranked 60th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rossville). They took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 59-17 win over Frankfort. With the Hornets ahead 29-9 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Rossville's win came from a few key players Tri-Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ava Burkle, who posted eight points in addition to eight boards and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Vanderwall, who had 12 points and four steals.

Rossville is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Tri-Central, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
