Football Recap: Althoff Catholic Comes Up Short

Althoff Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 29-28 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mt. Vernon Rams. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2022.

Althoff Catholic now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Mt. Vernon, their record now sits at an identical 2-3.

Coming up, Althoff Catholic is taking a road trip to face off against Collinsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Kahoks will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Crusaders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mt. Vernon, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Cahokia at 7:00 p.m. The Comanches' defense has only allowed 12.6 points per game this season, so the Rams' offense will have their work cut out for them.
