Baseball Recap: Plainfield Comes Up Short

Thursday just wasn't the day for Plainfield's offense. They fell just short of the Northview Knights by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. If the Quakers were looking for revenge after losing 6-5 to the Knights when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jack Davis was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Plainfield saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Lykins, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Plainfield has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Northview, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9.

Looking ahead, Plainfield will host Ben Davis at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Northview, they will head out on the road to take on Marshall at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
