Softball Recap: South Plainfield Tigers vs. Dayton Bulldogs
South Plainfield was the 2-1 winner over Dayton when they last played one another back in May of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Tigers fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 5-4 on Monday.
Sophia Alvarez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Cassie Penny, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
South Plainfield's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Dayton, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-10.
Looking ahead, South Plainfield will head out on the road to face off against St. John-Vianney at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Lancers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. Dayton has already played their next game (against Summit), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
