Softball Game Preview: Miramonte Matadors vs. Mt. Diablo Red Devils

The Miramonte Matadors will square off against the Mt. Diablo Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Miramonte has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Miramonte is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since February 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Las Lomas by a score of 10-8.

Gianna Granzella made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Quinn-Ferguson, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mt. Diablo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Concord, falling 17-5.

Mt. Diablo saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophie Ramos, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Ramos is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Miramonte's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Mt. Diablo, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.

Miramonte took their victory against Mt. Diablo in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 17-4 score. Will the Matadors repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
