Baseball Recap: Lake Stevens Wins Going Away Against Cascade

Lake Stevens hadn't done well against Cascade recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Bruins with a sharp 12-1 win. Considering the Vikings have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Manny McLaurin looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Blake Moser was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josh Bouley, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Lake Stevens is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Cascade, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Lake Stevens will be playing in front of their home fans against Emerald Ridge at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cascade will be paying especially close attention to the Vikings' match: after the Vikings face off against the Jaguars, they'll take on Cascade again at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
