Pierson managed to slip by Port Jefferson the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Whalers lost 11-1 to the Royals on Friday. The Whalers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Pierson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Mitchell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. Another was Andy Wayne, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Pierson now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Port Jefferson, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-8 record.

Coincidentally, Pierson and Port Jefferson will both be playing Mattituck the next time they take the field. The Whalers will host the Tuckers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Royals will host them at 4:00 p.m. on May 6.
