Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Winters Mill

It was a Battle of the Birds when Winters Mill challenged Francis Scott Key on Saturday. The Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-56 victory over the Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted since December 19, 2025.

Winters Mill can attribute much of their success to Chase Siegel, who posted 19 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Carter, who earned eight points and six rebounds.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Winters Mill, bringing their record up to 12-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points over those games. As for Francis Scott Key, they dropped their record down to 6-16 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Coincidentally, Winters Mill and Francis Scott Key will both be playing South Carroll the next time they take the court. The Falcons will host the Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Eagles will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
