Basketball Recap: Elberta Warriors vs. Robertsdale Golden Bears
After flying high against Alabama School of Math & Science last Thursday, Elberta came back down to earth. The Elberta Warriors fell just short of the Robertsdale Golden Bears by a score of 18-16 on Friday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-14 back in November.
Robertsdale found their leader in freshman Mariyah Smith, who posted four points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Lola Mosley, who had two points in addition to ten boards and three steals.
Elberta's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Robertsdale, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-13.
Elberta will take on Baldwin County in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Robertsdale and Mobile Christian will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
