Softball Recap: Pine Forest's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Pine Forest's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Trojans have won three matches by more than ten runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Mya Harris, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep E.E. Smith off the board. Harris has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gracie Miller and Savannah Winstead did most of the damage at the plate: Miller went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Winstead went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Winstead a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaelyn Green, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Pine Forest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as E.E. Smith only posted an OBP of .150.

Pine Forest moved to 4-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for E.E. Smith, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Pine Forest will have a chance to go back-to-back against E.E. Smith: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
