Baseball Recap: Southington Triumphs

Southington won the last time they faced Nonnewaug and things went their way on Saturday too. The Blue Knights came out on top against the Chiefs by a score of 8-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Knights.

Luke Prozzo got the start for Southington and what a start it was: he struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Domenic Zigmont and Connor Lentini did most of the damage at the plate: Zigmont went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Lentini went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Zigmont a new career-high.

Southington's record now sits at 12-2. As for Nonnewaug, they moved to 12-2 with that loss, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Southington wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 16-0 win against Wethersfield on the 11th. As for Nonnewaug, they will take on Shelton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
