Baseball Recap: Crescent City Sets Scoring Season-High Against Halifax Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crescent City). They blew past the Halifax Academy Knights 21-0 on Monday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-1 back in March.

Troy Earney made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Crescent City is 2-1 when Earney allows one or fewer hits, but 3-13 otherwise. Earney was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Crescent City got a massive performance out of Andrew Roosa, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Roosa is becoming a predictor of the Raiders' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 0-13 when he doesn't). Damian Fitzgerald was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

Crescent City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Crescent City and bumps their season record up to 5-14. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Halifax Academy, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Crescent City wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 31-1 defeat against Lake Weir on the 8th. Halifax Academy has also already played their next matchup (against Warner Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
