Softball Recap: Greenwood Gets the Win

Greenwood's tournament run continued when they took on Glen Rose on Saturday. The Greenwood Rangers came out on top against the Glen Rose Tigers by a score of 8-5.

Addison Arredondo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. That run marked the first that she's scored this season.

In other batting news, Mae Savage was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Brylee Savage was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Greenwood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in three consecutive matches.

Greenwood's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Glen Rose, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Greenwood will square off against Canyon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Glen Rose, they will be playing at home against Alvarado at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Glen Rose is facing Alvarado at the right time seeing as Alvarado is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
