Basketball Recap: Riverside Comes Up Short

Riverside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. 2026 welcomed they with a 52-28 loss courtesy of the Houston Wildcats. The Pirates were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Riverside still got an impressive performance from Madelyn Lemly, who went 5-for-9 en route to 11 points and three steals. Lemly continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Houston, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-6.

Riverside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-28 loss against Milton-Union on the 8th. As for Houston, they have also already played their next game, a 38-31 defeat against Fort Loramie on the 8th.
