Softball Recap: Choctaw County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Marengo last Tuesday, Choctaw County came back down to earth. The Choctaw County Tigers came up short against the Southern Choctaw Indians on Thursday, falling 23-8. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 7, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Zhiyan Dubose and Kamya Straight did some serious damage despite the final result: Dubose went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs, while Straight went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave Dubose a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiriyhana Tubbs, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Choctaw County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Southern Choctaw, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-6-1.

Coming up, Choctaw County will square off against Sweet Water at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southern Choctaw, they are taking a road trip to challenge Choctaw County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
