Basketball Game Preview: Hope Academy Trojan Tigers vs. Tavares Bulldogs

Having just played yesterday, the Hope Academy Trojan Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Tavares Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Hope Academy was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 39-38 to South Lake. The loss continues a trend for the Trojan Tigers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Tavares fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Mount Dora on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 45-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hurricanes. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tavares' defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-10. As for Hope Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Hope Academy barely slipped by Tavares when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 48-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hope Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
