Baseball Recap: Basalt Victorious

Basalt came out on top against Olathe on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Longhorns walked away with a 7-2 win over the Pirates. The victory continues a trend for the Longhorns in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won five in a row.

Basalt let Shan Donnelly and Karson Schneider run wild. Donnelly went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Schneider went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Nate Donnelly was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Basalt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Olathe only posted a batting average of .231.

Basalt now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Olathe, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Basalt didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-1 loss against Aspen on the 21st. As for Olathe, they will welcome North Fork at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Miners have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
