Baseball Recap: Butler Comes Up Short

Butler fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against North Allegheny on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1. The Golden Tornado haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Kyle Casteel was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Butler saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Boring, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Butler's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for North Allegheny, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-2.

While Butler had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
