Baseball Game Preview: Holtville Vikings vs. Imperial Tigers

For the second straight game, Holtville will face off against Imperial. The Vikings will venture away from home to take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Holtville has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight losses, while Imperial will come in with three straight wins.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Holtville's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Imperial on Tuesday.

For Imperial's part, Carter Tucker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Tucker has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning three runs and three stolen bases. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Julian Jimenez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Higginbotham, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Imperial's record now sits at 13-11. As for Holtville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-20.
