Baseball Game Preview: Mills Vikings vs. San Mateo Bearcats

For the second straight game, Mills will face off against San Mateo. The Vikings will head out to challenge the Bearcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Mills took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against San Mateo by a score of 6-2.

Mills got a great performance from Nate Lafon as he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Lafon has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Givanni Angelini was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Mills' success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 3-1 (and 3-9 when he doesn't). Aiden Brown also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

San Mateo has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mills, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.
