Softball Game Preview: Griffith Panthers vs. Andrean Fighting 59ers

Griffith is on a 15-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Andrean is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Panthers will welcome the Fighting 59ers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Andrean's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Griffith hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Panthers never let Hammond Bishop Noll get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Tuesday.

Andrean came out on top against Illiana Christian on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Fighting 59ers blew past the Vikings 8-2.

Sadie Drousias spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ashlyn Hite, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Aubrey Grasha was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Andrean's victory bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Griffith, their win bumped their record up to 21-2.

Griffith suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Andrean in their previous matchup back in May of 2018. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
