Basketball Recap: New Riegel Takes a Loss

New Riegel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Danbury Lakers and fell 57-13. The Blue Jackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-8.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Danbury to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mia McDonald, who went 9 for 10 on her way to 20 points. That's the most points McDonald has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maci Brown, who earned seven points in addition to six rebounds and six steals.

New Riegel's loss dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Danbury, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.

New Riegel wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-19 defeat against Calvert on the 6th. As for Danbury, they have also already played their next matchup, a 36-31 victory against Woodmore on the 6th.
