Baseball Recap: Rock Falls Comes Up Short

After flying high against Stillman Valley last Monday, Rock Falls came back down to earth. The Rockets took a 13-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lutheran Crusaders on Tuesday. The Rockets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Austin Castaneda was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. He is becoming a predictor of Rock Falls' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 2-5-1 when he doesn't). Carter Hunter was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Rock Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 6-6-1. As for Lutheran, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7.

Coming up, Rock Falls will face off against Byron at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Rockets surely won't give up without a fight. Lutheran will be paying especially close attention to Rock Falls' game: after Rock Falls faces off against Byron, they'll take on Lutheran again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
