Softball Recap: South Triumphs

While South's victory against Kenston wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rebels had just enough and edged out the Bombers 2-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-1 back in April.

The team relied heavily on Mariya Reed, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Paige Janson was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 7-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

South is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-11-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Kenston, they moved to 14-8 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South will challenge Hawken at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kenston, they will square off against Chardon at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
