League recap: Largo tops Boca Ciega to extend winning streak

Largo extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 7 this week by beating Boca Ciega, 42-7. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Packers.

Largo took down the Pirates 42-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Tarpon Springs's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dalton Collins threw for 133 and one touchdown and Kenyatta Merriex had 63 yards receiving. On the ground Michael Ford chipped in 84 yards. Casey Luckenbill helped Tarpon Springs' passing attack out by catching two balls for 20 yards.

6-foot-1 quarterback Juwan Brown of Rick Rodriguez's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1079. He has also thrown 13 touchdowns. On the ground, the Spongers' Ford has rushed for 941 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Merriex. The Tarpon Springs star has 35 catches for 450 yards.

Tarpon Springs' Ford is a mere 59 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Lakewood Ranch takes on the Packers. The Mustangs have allowed 134 points this season, while Largo has given up 60.

The Packers led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Antez Brinson's team.
