Football Recap: Lumberton Takes a Loss

Lumberton had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-2 to make it six. They fell just short of the Westover Wolverines by a score of 14-12. The Pirates gained 122 more yards on the day, but it was the Wolverines that made the best use of them.

Although Lumberton took the loss, they still got scores from Chase Bollinger and Arian Powell.

Westover's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. They haven't had any issues with Lumberton recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Latrell Allen went supernova, rushing for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lumberton will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Heide Trask at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th. As for Westover, they will challenge Cape Fear at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
