Softball Recap: Wendell's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Wendell came tearing into Saturday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Bear Lake Bears as they made off with a 19-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Macie Bird was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Tyree Sears, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Wendell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .692. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .361 or higher in five consecutive games.

Wendell pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.8 runs over those games. As for Bear Lake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wendell will face off against Gooding at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wendell's pitchers better be ready for this one: Gooding has averaged an impressive 11.5 runs per game this season. As for Bear Lake, they are taking a road trip to face off against American Falls at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. American Falls has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.71 runs per game on average), something Bear Lake will no doubt try to take advantage of.
