Basketball Recap: Nasir Johnson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gar-Field over Charles J. Colgan

Gar-Field suffered their closest loss since February 13, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Charles J. Colgan Sharks by a score of 57-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Red Wolves have suffered against the Sharks since January 6, 2021.

Gar-Field's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nasir Johnson, who went 7 of 8 en route to 16 points. Those 16 points gave Johnson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Jason Bell, who posted 18 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Gar-Field dropped their record down to 12-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Charles J. Colgan, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gar-Field will take on Massaponax at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Bell and Collin Bowles. As for Charles J. Colgan, they will square off against Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
