Football Recap: Calvary Christian's Undefeated Season over After Six Games

If Calvary Christian was feeling good fresh off their 70-12 takedown of Southwest Georgia STEM Charter last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights fell 25-12 to the Brookstone Cougars on Friday. The contest marked the Knights' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Although Calvary Christian took the loss, they still got scores from Jamar Williams and Nate Stokes.

Brookstone's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Broughton Branch, who threw for 134 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 39 yards and one score. The Cougars' leading receiver Sammie Laboy was Branch's top target yet again, picking up 58 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Having lost for the first time this season, Calvary Christian fell to 5-1. As for Brookstone, their record now sits at 6-1.

Coincidentally, Calvary Christian and Brookstone will both be playing St. Anne-Pacelli the next time they take the field. The Knights will head out to face the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Cougars will host them at 7:30 p.m. on the 10th.
