Baseball Recap: Watauga Find Success

Watauga barely beat McDowell the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pioneers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Titans a 10-0 shutout on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won three in a row.

Jake Blanton was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Evan Burroughs was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Watauga always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McDowell only posted an OBP of .158.

Watauga's win bumped their record up to 15-9. As for McDowell, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

As of now, neither Watauga nor McDowell have any future games scheduled.
