Football Recap: Parkland Matadors vs. El Dorado Aztecs
Parkland had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-5 to make it six. They were outmatched by the El Dorado Aztecs and fell 78-35. While losing is never fun, the Matadors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 748th, while the Aztecs are ranked 312th).
As for El Dorado, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Ryan Estrada continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 356 yards and six TDs on only 13 carries. Those 356 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Jadarius Sanders was in the mix as well, providing El Dorado with two touchdowns.
Parkland and El Dorado will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Matadors see the field they'll take on Americas at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for El Dorado, their break will end when they face Bel Air at 6:30 p.m. on the 24th.
