Baseball Game Preview: Making Waves Academy Marlins vs. Ygnacio Valley Wolves

The Making Waves Academy Marlins will head out to square off against the Ygnacio Valley Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five losses in a row dating back to last season, Making Waves Academy turned things around against Calistoga on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats, sneaking past 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Marlins have posted against the Wildcats since February 28, 2020.

Making Waves Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gustavo Rosas, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. Rosas has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times he's played.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ygnacio Valley). They blew past Valley Christian 14-8 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won three in a row.

Making Waves Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Ygnacio Valley, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Everything went Making Waves Academy's way against Ygnacio Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Making Waves Academy made off with a 17-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Making Waves Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
