The Jefferson Forest Cavaliers will head out on the road to challenge the Staunton River Golden Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Staunton River will be up against a hot Jefferson Forest team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Jefferson Forest's pitcher stepped up to hand Gretna a 12-0 shutout on Monday. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Mati Gouldthorpe, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ashleigh Johnson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Jefferson Forest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gretna only posted a batting average of .062.
Meanwhile, Staunton River hadn't done well against Christiansburg recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Staunton River put the hurt on Christiansburg with a sharp 15-9 win.
Kailynne Keister was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Keister was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Kaylee Maxfield was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaidyn Roach, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Jefferson Forest pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Staunton River, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Jefferson Forest couldn't quite finish off Staunton River in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can Jefferson Forest avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
