Softball Recap: Vidor Victorious

Vidor won against West Orange-Stark last Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Pirates walked away with a 10-7 win over the Lumberton Raiders. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Peycin Wilkins tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, Tylen Cassel was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Christian, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Vidor's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Lumberton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10-2 record this season.

Coincidentally, Vidor and Lumberton will both be playing Silsbee the next time they take the field. The Pirates will host the Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Raiders will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
