Soccer Game Preview: Aspen vs. Vail Mountain

Aspen hasn't had much luck against Vail Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Skiers will face off against the Rangers at 4:00 p.m. Aspen's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, neither Aspen nor Basalt could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Ryan Nitti was the only thing that stood between the Skiers and a shutout considering he scored both of the Skiers' goals, bringing his season total up to seven goals.

Meanwhile, after soaring to six goals the game before, Vail Mountain was a bit more limited in their match last Tuesday. They lost 8-1 to Battle Mountain. Vail Mountain were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 3-0.

Vail Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. Aspen's draw makes their record 2-4-5 this season.

Aspen took their win against Vail Mountain in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Skiers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
