While Clay County put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Pineville. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Mountain Lions 1-0. The Tigers were shut out 1-0 the last time they took on the Mountain Lions, so the Tigers were just returning the favor.

Not much got past Abby Bowling, who gave up just three hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Pineville off the board.

At the plate, Clay County secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Emi Reynolds, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Sydney Stewart also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Clay County and bumps their season record up to 7-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Pineville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6-1.

Coming up, Clay County will host Southwestern at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Pineville, they will head out on the road to face off against South Laurel at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Mountain Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
