Basketball Game Preview: Coon Rapids Cardinals vs. Anoka Tornadoes

The Coon Rapids Cardinals will head out to take on the Anoka Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

It was a proper cat-fight when Coon Rapids duked it out withJefferson on Tuesday. Coon Rapids sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-58 win over Jefferson.

While Anoka didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They claimed a resounding 88-52 victory over St. Thomas Academy. That looming 88-52 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tornadoes yet this season.

Coon Rapids pushed their record up to 2-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.5 points per game. As for Anoka, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Coon Rapids strolled past Anoka when the teams last played back in March by a score of 82-68. Will Coon Rapids repeat their success, or does Anoka have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
