Berean Christian hasn't had much luck against Morningside Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Berean Christian will welcome Morningside Academy at 3:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Berean Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Highlands Christian 23-13. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Sophia Britton was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Lillian Severson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morningside Academy). They put the hurt on Heritage with a sharp 26-10 victory last Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Leigha Race was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Morningside Academy got a massive performance out of Gabbriella Oliver, who scored five runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Oliver also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Meghan Enyart, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.
Morningside Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .606. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Berean Christian's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 23.0 runs over those games. As for Morningside Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
Both Berean Christian and Morningside Academy just can't seem to miss. Berean Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Morningside Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.4 hits.
