Football Recap: Clairemont Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Clairemont can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 49-6 loss at the hands of the Maranatha Christian Eagles. The Chieftains were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.

Despite the loss, Clairemont still got an impressive performance from Tyler Allen, who rushed for 100 yards and one TD. Allen's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards.

A big part of Maranatha Christian's win came down to the chemistry between Shane Piester and his top target Dane Johnson. Piester threw for 148 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 91.7% of his passes while Johnson gained 78 total yards and two touchdowns. Johnson was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 68 yards.

Clairemont has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Maranatha Christian, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

Clairemont does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maranatha Christian, they will face off against Palo Verde Valley at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Yellow Jackets have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games.
