Baseball Game Preview: Etiwanda Eagles vs. Upland Highlanders/Scots

For the second straight game, Etiwanda will face off against Upland. The Eagles will welcome the Highlanders/Scots at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Etiwanda's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Upland's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Etiwanda came out on top against Upland on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Eagles put the hurt on the Highlanders/Scots with a sharp 10-2 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Michael Aleman tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Etiwanda is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 7-9-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Frank Gonzales was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Ryan Severns was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Etiwanda is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-11-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Upland, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-19.
