Softball Recap: Harlan Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

Harlan had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Stevens Falcons. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Aubrey Flores looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Harlan got a massive performance out of Gabby Gutierrez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs. Those four runs gave Gutierrez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sarah Almazan, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Harlan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Harlan pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Stevens, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-17.

Harlan has already played their next contest, a 12-6 victory against Taft on the 12th. As for Stevens, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-3 defeat against Brennan on the 12th.
