 Pinnacle won the last time they faced Desert Vista, and things went their way  on Thursday too. The Pinnacle Pioneers won by a  run and slipped past the Desert Vista Thunder  3-2. That's two games straight that Pinnacle has won by  just one  run.
  Marcus Downing looked comfortable as he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  only one  hit over four innings pitched.
 On the hitting side,  Gabe Velasquez-Mendoza was  excellent,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 On Desert Vista's side, they got a good showing from  PJ Alig, who   struck out six batters over  three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   two  hits (and only one walk).
 At the plate,  Brendan Burke and  Braden Burness stepped up to the plate in a big way.  Burke  went 1-for-4 with a  home run, while  Burness  went 1-for-3 with a  home run.
 Even though they lost, Desert Vista  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with nine  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pinnacle only tossed five.
 Pinnacle is  on a roll lately: they've  won six of their last seven contests,  which provided a nice bump to their 16-12-1 record  this season. As for Desert Vista,  this is  the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 19-11.
 As of now, neither Pinnacle nor Desert Vista have any future games scheduled.
