Volleyball Recap: Phillipsburg Takes a Loss

Phillipsburg lost against Smith Center on Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Panthers fell just short of the Redmen by a score of 2-1.

Phillipsburg was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Smith Center work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 23-25, 25-18.

Ana Schemper paced Phillipsburg's offense, picking up eight kills. Schemper also shared the team's lead in assists with Chloe Jacobs: they picked up 13 each.

Smith Center's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keleigh Ochoa led the charge by getting 15 digs.

Phillipsburg dropped their record down to 6-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Smith Center, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-6.

Phillipsburg has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Hoisington on the 27th. As for Smith Center, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Central Plains on the 27th.
